Alternatives to Raising

BECOME A PUPPY RAISER

In today’s busy world, many raisers cannot meet the requirements of puppy raising for the full 12 to 16 months. However, there are other opportunities to play a significant role in raising a guide dog puppy:

  • Start a puppy: Some people really enjoy the puppy stage or are not physically strong enough to handle an adolescent Labrador. We are always in need of partially-raised puppies for other raisers who need a puppy that is old enough to go to work or school, or stay crated for up to 6 hours during the day.
  • Raise a puppy already started: Older puppies become available because some raisers find that they can’t continue to raise the puppy they started. These pups are ideal for raisers who need an older puppy to take to work or school with them, or to leave crated for a maximum 6 hour time period while at work.
