Naming a future guide dog is a unique way to pay tribute to a member of your family, a dear friend, or to commemorate a special occasion, while supporting the work of Guiding Eyes.  With a gift of $3,000 you can name a Guiding Eyes puppy.

The donor and/or honoree will receive:

• A Certificate of Naming
• Updates during the puppy raising period
• Notification of acceptance into formal guide dog training program

And if the puppy completes the program, we will provide:

• Announcement of placement with a visually impaired student
• Invitation to the graduation ceremony, if applicable
• A graduation photograph of your dog

The guidelines for naming a Guiding Eyes for the Blind puppy are:

Appropriate: Names that are fairly easy to say; Most two-syllable names

Inappropriate: Names such as “Killer”; Double names such as “Billy Joe”; Names that end with sounds similar to no (ie: “Joe”, “Virgo”)

Please note: There is no guarantee that a special name puppy will graduate as a Guiding Eyes dog. Dogs may be selected to become part of our elite breeding stock; others are released and enter alternate service dog careers, or find wonderful homes with adoptive families. Only one Guiding Eyes puppy will be named per special name request regardless of outcome. However, our goal is for each special name pup to successfully complete the program so we select only the strongest candidates. Since each litter is assigned names according to a letter of the alphabet, this may cause a delay in the naming of the puppy.
